I've seen Rudd a lot this season. I think he is a very good player. Victor is big-bodied, physically strong, athletic and with good basektball IQ and feel for the game. Slightly undersized for PF (height-wise) and lacking high-level shooting prowess to play as a wing, so he seems to be kinda caught between two positions. He can shoot threes (and likes to do that) but while he is good with open look situations, especially if he has enough time to set his feet just right, once there are some nuisances (like active perimeter defense) his percentage drops down significantly. Also he lacks good dribbling skills and some specifically effective go-to moves to be effective as a slasher (though he can attack closeouts successfully). Nevertheless, he excels in most of the other aspects of our beloved game of basketball. Good defender, not really impressive if lateral quickness is concerned but more than willing to compensate for it with physical toughness, defensive grit and feel for the game (can grow tired, so sometimes his defensive intensity drops down closer to the ned of the game). A willing and able passer and facilitator. Not an exquisite dribbler (like I've said before) but can put the ball down on the floor when needed. Can finish around the basket in a variety of ways but will always go for a rim-rocking dunk when there is an opportunity. Good rebounding instincts and skills. Makes a lot of 'small things' which make his team better. Not shy of the leader's role (doubt if that will be needed from him in Maccabi) but not with a 'prima donna' mentality, a good teammate, as I can judge. Amazing athlete, jumps way too high Also he excels in transition offense and overall likes to play uptempo basketball.
If there is a fast-running yet clever team with good ball movement which needs a terrific athlete who can do a little bit of everything on court, then Rudd in it is an alliance made in heaven. But I won't be sure that next season's MTA is the best destination for a player like Rudd. With all the ballhogs around him (Goudelock, Sonny, etc.), I doubt that Victor would be
as effective as he is capable.
