Yeah, I also don't think that Nemanja deserved this MVP title even if I'm not an Olympiakos fan for sure. If we take into account purely individual stats then certainly Rochestie (just look at his shooting percentage and assists to turnovers ratio) or Boban aren't any less deserving than Nemanja. And both were much more valuable to their teams performance than Bjelica was to Fener's one. But Bjelica was certainly a better pretender for MVP award this very season because in the end both Zvezda and NN failed and the same Rochestie played in a very disappointing manner in the games which were crucial for NN's play-off chances. And Fener was extremely successful this year with Bjelica being crucial to this success. So as it seems that Real Madrid and CSKA were too deeply packed to choose just one player from their ranks it mostly boils down to the question if some player from Oly (with Spanoulis being the most deserving candidate) or from Fener (with Bjelica being the same for that team) is more deserving of this award.
I would choose Spanoulis and I find out that Bjelica's MVP title was really illogical one just because of the two main reasons: 1) Spanoulis was able to boost his team's performance when it mattered the most on a scale Bjelica could only dream of (one can even say that it's a sign of Oly's weakness as they regularly needed V-Span's 4th quarter miracles while Fener was functioning better as a whole and haven't been into that do-or-die situations as frequently as Oly was), 2) even if Printezis stole the limelight for his buzzer-beating three and all-around impressive performance in that series, Oly overcoming Barcelona to secure a ticket to Madrid was a real upset (at least, it was for me) while Fener winning against MTA was much less of a sensation. If the situation was vice versa (Fener eliminating blau grana while Oly taking good care of MTA) choice of Bjelica for MVP would be much more well-grounded.
And talking about Nemanja's PIR numbers let's not forget that a very valuable contribution to it came from his defensive rebounds many of which weren't really hard to collect with essential boxing out work being done by others (f.e., Vesely). While being second in collected rebounds overall Nemanja isn't even in Top 10 if we consider offensive ones. Hell, why I need to argue more on that, Carlos Suarez grabbed more offensive rebounds per average than Bjelica did. Friggin' Carlos Suarez, a small forward with all his 2.02 cm of height!
Either way, as much as I hate that retard Kirilenko, Nemanja is the worst Euroleague MVP in the history of the award. Yes, even Siskauskas was better
Oh, my god ! Bad MVP in history. Turkish lobby god job. $$$
Next year will be MVP Oguz Savas
A true scandal.
