If the Warriors use their $17.3M trade exception to acquire Kelly Oubre, it’d cost an incremental $80M or so in salary and tax. But if they were to send Kevon Looney back, they’d save $30M of that. It’d be a $50M net cost

These numbers are striking but remember that the Warriors' tax bill drops significantly if BRI this season ends up less than the projection, which seems likely. Still huge, just not THIS huge

If 2020-21 revenues drop 30% from initial projections, an $80M net cost gets reduced to around $50M, and a $50M net cost gets reduced to around $30M
